2 new projects at the bio-ethanol plant in the port of Ghent

Alco Bio Fuel informs that it has successfully commissioned 2 new projects at its bio-ethanol plant in the port of Ghent, for a total investment of 13,5 M EUR.

End March, the cogeneration unit started its production of 60 T/h steam and 12,9 MW electricity.  The steam quantity corresponds just to the needs of the plant, while about 50% of the electricity is used by the plant and 50% is injected on the grid.  This combined heat and power unit (CHP) typically allows 26% improved energy efficiency, compared to separate production units.

In June, Alco Bio Fuel started to produce corn oil, adding value to the already existing range of animal feed co-products, such as protein rich DDGS and associated products (Protifeed®, Proticorn®, Protistar®, Protigold®, Protisyr®).  The 3.000 tons/year corn oil are sold in the animal feed and biodiesel industry, and could also be refined for human consumption.
